You know those "open range" signs you see in rural areas, warning of livestock unbound by fences? The signs finally made good on their promise, and we came across a herd of twenty wandering horses on our way to Three Lakes.

While some of the equines shared a nuzzle, this lovely dappled palomino gave us a shy hello.

To my delight, a Norwegian Fjord trotted out from the badlands, showing off his natural flowing mane. Traditionally, these horses have incredible mohawk designs cut into their two-tone manes, to show off the jet black stripe that runs down the center.

Once the last of the horses sauntered past their epic backdrop, we headed on to our destination. The Three Lakes post is coming up next! Does one of the horses stand out to you as a favorite?
